Mike Hill 10k/5k Run is now part of the J-Town Triple Crown
The LAKEFEST Mike Hill 10k began in 1976 when Mike Hill, HK Cooper, and Bill Magruder worked to see that a race was included in the bicentennial celebration. Mike Hill was an important part of our community life. He encouraged businesses and people throughout the community to get involved in the LAKEFEST celebration and in the race. It was known as the LAKEFEST 10k until Mike's untimely passing in 2007. The race was then changed to the LAKEFEST Mike Hill 10k. Since then, a 5k has been added.
This year will mark the 50th anniversary of Jamestown's Independence Day Celebration and the 41st running of the LAKEFEST 5K/10K. Last year, we debuted a new race course. This year, we are excited to announce that our race is a part of the J-TOWN TRIPLE CROWN! Jamestown, Kentucky is home to three fantastic 5K races! The J-Town Triple Crown combines three quality races for one incredible experience!
Registration is now open! Click the link below and be a part of history as you race for the J-Town Triple Crown!
LAKEFEST SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT FEATURING SHENANDOAH
From the start, LAKEFEST has been about small town charm and home-grown folks celebrating the Fourth of July as a community. The celebration has always involved good food, good fun, and it has always culminated with The Square full of families and friends enjoying some good music. From that first Independence Day Celebration in 1969 until now, the LAKEFEST Saturday Night Concert has been a highlight of summer on Lake Cumberland.
For our 50th Anniversary Celebration, we are thrilled to welcome Terry Warriner, Winding Creek Studio Band, and concert headliner, Shenandoah! It was important to us that the opening acts have ties to our community and to the history of this festival. We couldn't ask for a better line up! This year's LAKEFEST Saturday Night Concert will be a night to remember!
Shenandoah's website states:
"When country music lovers talk about the greatest groups in the genre, Shenandoah is always at the forefront of any discussion. Fueled by Marty Raybon’s distinctive vocals and the band’s skilled musicianship, Shenandoah became well known for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss. Shenandoah has recorded ten studio albums (3 certified gold) and placed 26 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The boys from Muscle Shoals have left a potent legacy at country radio with over a dozen #1 records.
Shenandoah made their first public appearance 30 years ago. They are celebrating this milestone with the nationwide “Shenandoah 30th Anniversary Tour.” The group recently signed a record deal with BMG to release their first new album in two decades. Shenandoah premiered their debut single off the album, "Noise," on SiriusXM and marked their first release to radio in 20 years. The track is produced by Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts and hit the top 30 on the country charts. Their new album, “Reloaded,” was recently released and was the highest debuting album on the Billboard Chart of their entire career. The album debuted in the Top 15 on the iTunes Charts. Last month Shenandoah premiered a brand new music video on CMT for their current single,“That’s Where I Grew Up,” featuring fellow country star, Michael Ray."
We are thrilled to welcome Shenandoah as the headliner of LAKEFEST 2019! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and get ready for Jamestown's largest Concert on The Square!
